Breastfeeding & the Law:
A Right, Not a Privilege!
About the Event
Our vision is that all healthcare professionals in San Diego County will be knowledgeable about breastfeeding and every breastfeeding woman and family will have access to the information, resources, and community support necessary to breastfeed for as long as she and her child wish. This event is one of the many ways in which we hope to bring this vision to life.
This is a half-day seminar for professionals, students, families and advocates of breastfeeding. Topics that will be covered include federal lactation accommodation and family leave laws & resources, CA State lactation accommodation and FMLA laws & resources, as well as, other legal issues such as breastfeeding in public, breastfeeding and incarceration, TSA regulations, schools and universities, and jury duty.

Presentations will be in the auditorium in the building. Food and beverages will be served outside and are not allowed in the auditorium.
PARKING is located next door at the Campus Point Parking Structure. Self-parking is available in parking structures or lots for the same rate as valet parking: $4 for half-day parking (up to four hours) and $8 for full day (longer than four hours).

About the Speakers
Mendy Mattingly is an attorney with over 15 years of experience specializing in labor and employment law matters, and another 6 years in human resources. She primarily focused on advising and counseling employers and currently works in-house for Solar Turbines Incorporated. She is a former Board of Directors for the SD Breastfeeding coalition and focused on lactation in the workplace.
