A 12-Hour endurance Challenge for Ascendigo
Hi my name is Orson Morris. I am an 8th grader at the Waldorf School on the Roaring Fork. Every 8th grader participates in a year long independent project. This project includes finding a mentor, doing something of service, writing a history paper, a mentor biography, a personal experience paper and concludes with a public speaking presentation to the community hosted on the stage. After debating between topics, I decided to pursue personal fitness.
It was in March that I joined a program called athletic development at the Carbondale rec center. In this class I found my mentor, Parker Kennedy. Parker is helping me learn about fitness and train for the 12 hours of Sunlight endurance race. In this race we will be doing laps skinning up and skiing down Sunlight Mountain. I will be competing with my partner Phoenix Cherney and as part of my service component I want to raise money and awareness for Ascendigo. I encourage donating to help people, like my sister Harper, who is on the spectrum.
Ascendigo elevates people with Autism by helping them to do challenging and hard things in the outdoors and in our community. I have seen how this boosts my sister’s confidence and I want to help Ascendigo to help more people, so please consider donating to my race. Thank you for your support and I look forward to making this happen. See you at the 12 hours on January 25th, 2025.
12 Hours of Support
Orson and Phoenix will climb 1,800-vertical-feet per completed lap. Give $1 per foot (in any amount of your choosing) to help encourage them to hike as many vertical feet as possible!
Orson and Phoenix will alternate laps during the 12 Hours of Sunlight endurance race. Help encourage them on each lap by donating $20!
Please note each contribution is a one-time donation made in advance or on January 25, 2025, to support Orson and Phoenix's endurance race benefitting Ascendigo. Additionally, you may donate any amount at checkout.
