About the Campaign


Eviction rates in Norfolk, VA are among the highest in the nation, with no signs of improving. Well before the pandemic had even touched our shores, ~4,200 people in government housing were told they would be forced out of their homes due to 'redevelopment' [ahem!! *gentrification*].


Too many Black and brown folks started this pandemic already in crisis. None of the government aid addresses, let alone compensates, the damage they carry from generations of systemic harm.


Let's pick up that work to keep families and communities together. 


757 Eviction Prevention Fund is putting every dollar of this fund directly to Black families' housing. So all we have to do is show up for it. Let's go!

Food, Fees, and Utilities $500

$500 covers necessities that fall in the cracks when families are struggling with financial crisis. Covering emergency groceries, late fees, and utilities gives families space and time to manage the stress and trauma that accrues with financial hardship and systemic oppression. $500 is the perfect amount for new fundraisers to really see their impact!

A month's rent is moving towards stability. $1,000 gives families access to opportunities via looking for better work, using current funds for other necessities, and reducing stress and trauma. $1,000 helps families come up with a long term plan towards stability and lasting security.

$2,500 helps reduce debt particularly in cases of pending eviction. Many families facing eviction are surviving ongoing financial crisis which often takes months to years to fix even with financial assistance. $2,500 is access to that road to recovery.
