Postponed to the Fall but the Campaign Continues
About the Campaign
1for3.org
Along with our partners in the West Bank and in the Boston area, 1for3 serves Palestinian refugees living with unmet needs in health, environment, education, and water. All our programs are conducted in partnership with the Lajee Center of Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, West Bank. Operating on a shoestring budget since 2013, 1for3 continues to provide tangible assistance to better the lives of Palestinian refugees.
Water Quality and Testing
We are expanding the Water Lab program in the West Bank. 1for3's water testing program has checked all households in Aida and Azza Refugee Camps, and in nearby Walaja village, for E. coli and total coliform bacteria, cleaning any problem areas. Our goal is to serve the entire West Bank by upgrading Water Lab to support highly specialized tests and provide public information on waterborne diseases. Read More.
Rooftop and Greenhouse Gardens
1for3 and its partners have created 45 rooftop and greenhouse gardens in Aida and Azza Refugee Camps, 90% of which are run by women. This saves families an estimated 50-60% on their produce costs. We want to expand this type of local camp-based agriculture by refurbishing existing gardens and working with agricultural engineers and farmer-trainers. Read more.
Recycling Project
In the dense urban environments of Palestinian refugee camps, 1for3 has worked with local residents to decrease toxic garbage burning and increase the second-use of non-organic trash into saleable furniture. We want to expand public awareness of recycling and second-use construction through our Environment Education Initiative, which supports local craft markets, school curricula, and teacher training. Community Health Project (Health4Palestine)
Health for Palestine (H4P) is a community-based health program created with Harvard Medical School. Over the last two years, H4P has trained young people as community health workers, and through them helped hundreds of patients control diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases. Our goal is to expand this successful program to the Balata Refugee Camp in Nablus, West Bank to serve the 30,000 refugees living there. Read More.
Lajee Center Kindergarten
The goal of our kindergarten is to create a loving environment for pre-school children within the Aida community, fostering a culture of respect and inclusiveness. It will support a student population that includes children with low to moderate special needs, both cognitive and physical. Read More.
