Help families in the Amazon

Homes washed away

Floodwater impacts Amazonian families.

Ecuador, June 16, 2024: In the face of adversity, countless Indigenous Achuar and Shuar families demonstrated remarkable resilience. Hundreds lost their homes, belongings, animals and crops when the Pastaza River overflowed its banks due to the excessively heavy rainfall in the Amazon. Mudslides, rapidly moving water, and rising rivers washed away homes. The Families living close to the river were left in shock and despair. The river claimed everything in minutes.

Two of our communities, Mamayak and Kayantsa, were severely impacted. One week prior, we provided families with safe water systems and nutritional supplements for their children with malnutrition.

Now, all that is gone, leaving them with nothing!

Your contribution, no matter how small, can play a crucial role in providing immediate relief to these families. It can help provide safe drinking water, food, clothing, pots, blankets, and other essentials.
