Wildlife needs your help
The Black bear is New Mexico’s state mammal. Yet protections of this species are virtually nonexistent. Will you join us and support our work to protect New Mexico’s wildlife? We’ve successfully banned traps, snares, and poisons from public lands as well as coyote killing contests, and actively promote coexistence with all wildlife.
Two days into August for Animals, we have far exceeded expectations, raising almost $50,000. Because of this overwhelming response, we are raising the fundraising goal to $75,000! You now have the potential to create an even greater impact for the animals in New Mexico.
This increased goal will allow APNM to do so much more to protect Black bears, cougars, and all animals in our state who depend on us. The fantastic dedication and generosity of supporters, like you, fuels the fight.
Will you help us take August for Animals even further by donating today?
No matter where you are in New Mexico, you are part of a unique southwestern ecosystem that contains a diverse collection of wildlife. However, in the cities and towns we have built, it is easy for people to forget that every bee, lizard, prairie dog, coyote, or bear we might encounter, called this land home long before we did.
Animal Protection New Mexico has been committed to coexistence since its inception. Our message is to “respect all animals and protect all animals.” Therefore, wildlife coexistence is at the heart of what we do. We have fought fiercely to end unscientific and cruel wildlife management practices, stop trapping, ban senseless killing contests, and secure funding for state wildlife projects. However, meaningful and lasting coexistence also requires education.
Without education, a society that truly values coexisting with all life will never be created. APNM recently partnered with the City of Albuquerque to launch the ABQ Wildlife Coexistence campaign with the aim of educating citizens to respect animal habitats, minimize conflicts, and promote sustainable practices. If this generation teaches the next generation that wildlife is not meant to be pushed out, but rather embraced, then real coexistence is closer to a reality.
