B4BC's 12th Annual Skate the Coast

Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is excited to announce its 12^th Annual Skate the Coast, a 19-mile skate-bike-roll from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach along the iconic Southern California Strand.

Join us in our collective push for prevention as we honor those who are and have fought breast cancer by coming to our pre-party on October 11th and/or skating with us on October 12th. 

This series attracts skaters of all ages and abilities. Please help us in reaching our $70K goal to benefit B4BC’s outreach, prevention, and survivorship programs by creating a fundraising page. Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $50 to join in the fun, but the more you raise, the better the prizes!

B4BC will be adding a drop in at Dockweiler State Beach for those who want to join later in the skate.

Friday October 11th – Pre-Party

5PM–9PM | Arbor Venice 

We're kicking off the weekend with a pre-party hosted by our friends at Arbor! Come by for live music, art auctions, food and drinks! You'll be able to meet your fellow skaters and the B4BC crew.

8:00AM SHARP Park and meet at Veterans Park in Redondo Beach, and get shuttled to the start at the north side of the Santa Monica Pier. Skate, Bike or Rollerskate 19-miles along the boardwalk from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach.

To participate, ALL RIDERS must register in advance by creating a fundraising page above and fundraise a minimum of $50*

Just by asking 3 friends/family members to pledge $1/mile you are already past this goal. You can pay the amount yourself but it's more fun to share your journey with others!

All participants will receive:

• Sponsor goodie bag and 2 raffle tickets (must be present to win)
• Commemorative Skate the Coast t-shirt
• Once you reach the $50 goal, we will provide you with a waiver to fill out and bring to the event.

*If you participated in Skate the Lake, your registration fee for Skate the Coast will be reduced to $25. Please contact maggie@b4bc.org for details.

HOW TO FUNDRAISE (And Win Prizes!)

Fundraising is fun and easy, but for some extra inspiration, here are some levels of progression worth aiming for:

ALL SKATERS // MUST raise $50 to participate through online and/or in person fundraising — receive Skate the Lake t-shirt + 2 kick-off party raffle tickets

TIER 1 // Raise $100 — receive Skate the Lake t-shirt + 10 kick-off party raffle tickets

TIER 2 // Raise $200 — receive Skate the Lake t-shirt + 15 kick-off party raffle tickets + prize pack from local/national sponsors 

TIER 3 // Raise $300 — receive Skate the Lake t-shirt + 20 kick-off party raffle tickets + prize pack from local/national sponsors  

TOP 3 FUNDRAISERS will be awarded an event sponsor prize pack on the SKATE DAY that will include some HUGE prizes from our sponsors!

Please note: All participants are required to sign waivers.  If you are under 18, you must have signatures from a parent or legal guardian and wear a helmet.  Helmets are MANDATORY for minors! Helmets are strongly encouraged for everyone. Adults who do no wear helmets do so at their own risk.

About B4BC's Skate the Lake (Tahoe) & Skate the Coast (LA)

Skate the Lake, now in its 15th year, is a one-of-a-kind skate-a-thon that covers a 28-mile stretch in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Its sister event, Skate the Coast, runs along a 19-mile portion of the Southern California Coastline from the Santa Monica Pier to the Redondo Beach Pier. The series attracts skaters of all ages and abilities!

Since its conception, these events have collectively had over 1,100 participants, fundraised over $700,000, and gained media coverage from national and local media. Funds raised support B4BC’s education, prevention, and support programs.
