Host a Daughters Watch Party

"Daughters is more than just a story; it's a call to acknowledge and empower the incredible resilience of young Black girls and their families navigating the challenges posed by incarceration."

- Angela Patton, Co-director, Daughters; CEO, Girls For A Change

By hosting a Watch Party, you're contributing to a movement to dismantle systemic barriers and advocate for justice and healing. Be a part of empowering and uplifting Black girls, putting their unmet needs in the spotlight, and making concrete change in their lives.

Watch Party Guidelines
A Watch Party is a private, invitation-only gathering held in an intimate space. It should not be publicly marketed—attendance is spread only through word of mouth. Watch Parties are intended for small groups and must maintain a minimal guest count.

Only Impact Screenings can be promoted and must receive prior approval. If you wish to host a larger event with more guests, facilitate broader community discussions, or request speakers and moderators to engage in meaningful conversation and action, please complete the Inquiry Form to request an Impact Screening.

If you have any questions, we are happy to assist and guide you through the Impact Screening process. Until then, enjoy your Watch Party with family and friends, and have a great conversation!

We hope these guidelines are helpful.

"As the Co-Director of Daughters, I want to personally thank you for taking the time to watch this film. This documentary is more than just a story it’s a reflection of the love, resilience, and deep emotional bonds between fathers and daughters who have been impacted by incarceration.

I hope that Daughters sparks a conversation, not just about the criminal justice system but about the real people—the families—who live with its consequences every day. These young girls deserve to be seen, heard, and supported, and their fathers, despite their circumstances, deserve the opportunity to rebuild trust and connection.

I want you to walk away from this film with a deeper understanding of how incarceration affects families beyond the prison walls. I want you to see the power of second chances, the importance of healing, and communities' role in making change possible.

If this film moves you, I encourage you to take action—whether it’s supporting organizations like Girls For A Change, advocating for justice reform, or simply showing up for the young people in your own community who need guidance, mentorship, and love.

Daughters are a testament to these young women's strength and the power of love to transcend even the toughest barriers. Thank you for watching, listening, and being part of the movement to ensure that no child has to navigate this journey alone.”
Angela Patton, Co-Director, Daughters

"Daughters is one of the most gentle, moving docs I have seen documenting the power of love between Dads and their daughters. It is undeniable, and a must-see. Bring some tissue you’re gonna need it.” - The Curvy Critic

Once you have your Watch Party Guide and your Watch Party set, the next step is to start a fundraiser to help support our Impact Campaign.

The Daughters’ Impact Campaign will support Black girls impacted by their fathers’ incarceration through personal development programming, training for their fathers on positive parenting practices, and facilitated opportunities for father-daughter engagement in jails and prisons. The campaign will also raise awareness of harmful changes to visitation practices and the impact on girls.

Daughters Impact Campaign

The Daughters Impact Campaign will focus on three key areas over the next four years to provide resources and support for Black girls who have incarcerated fathers and bring more awareness to the criminal justice system and its debilitating impacts on families.

  • Curate spaces and experiences for Black girls rooted in heart work, healing and self-sufficiency
  • Equip Ambassador and Peer Advisors with tools to provide support girls year-round
  • Continue offering film screenings across the U.S. and interactive experiences and discussion questions
  • Provide meaningful experiences for fathers and daughters to cultivate strong bonds
  • Increase awareness of criminal justice legislation and carceral visits at the state level
  • Foster greater understanding about the importance of family connections during incarceration

We've got a special incentive: everyone who raises $1,000 or more will get to choose from a selection of Daughters merch!
