Dedicate a plant today.

Dedicating a plant helps Fort Greene Park stay beautiful and maintains our slopes.

Spring Blooming Bulbs $20

Spring blooming bulbs like tulips, daffodils, crocus, and snowdrops enchant with their beauty, and they also play a crucial role in supporting pollinators. As these flowers unfurl their petals, they provide an early and essential nectar and pollen source for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects, aiding in their survival and contributing to the overall health of ecosystems. Spring bulbs can be found around monument plaza, in woodland areas under trees, and at the entrances to the park.

Asters $60

The vibrant blooms of asters, including the majestic New England asters that stand several feet tall, add vertical elegance to the park's landscape. These native flowering plants play a vital role as sanctuaries for local pollinators, supporting bees, butterflies, and other native species. Asters can be found in sunny spots throughout the park.

Hellebore $120

Hellebore — with its large flowers, bowl-shaped flowers — are often called “Lenten roses,” but are in fact a member of the buttercup, or Ranunculaceae, family. Although these perennials love the cooler months, they shine year round. Hellebore can be found near the Visitor’s Center and surrounding several entrances to the park.

Witch Hazel $300

Witch Hazel is a deciduous shrub known for its brilliant yellow to rich orange flowers and its explosive mode of seed dispersal. To avoid competition with other pollinators, Witch Hazel blooms in late fall and early winter, brightening the otherwise bleak winter landscape. If your timing is right, you might just hear a loud popping as the Witch Hazel’s seed pods explode! We will plant our new shrubs at the Willoughby entrance and around the outside of the tennis courts.

About the dedicating a plant

Each year, the park bursts with vibrant blooms from February to October. Instead of traditional gifts, why not consider expressing your love and appreciation with a lasting tribute in the park? Dedicating a plant can be a meaningful and sustainable gesture that will continue to grow and flourish, much like your affection for Fort Greene Park and your loved ones. While we can't specify the location and species, whenever you stroll through the park, you'll know that your blooms are among them.
