Please Consider Making a Tax-Deductible Donation Supporting Affordable Access to Mental Health Services for the LGBTQIA+ Community
“Queer LifeSpace allows people to drop all assumptions and just show up
as they need to be to make connections. It also serves as a space for the community
outside of bars, clubs, or the gym, that we don’t often have. It functions as an example
of how the community can come together and exist outside of those other spaces.”
— Audriannah Levine-Ward, PsyD, LMHCA
We Urgently Need Your Support
There are increasingly less city and state funds to be divided up between the Bay Area’s crucial nonprofits.
Based on this reality, Queer LifeSpace has made a conscious decision to look for financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations that are as equally invested in the mental health of our community as we are.
No matter what the amount, your donation will go directly to making a difference in someone’s life. As each individual community member's life is transformed through therapy, our entire community itself is enhanced.
Donate to One of the Following Programs:
Our primary mission is to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of our clients. As a result, our intake process involves screening each client and matching them to the therapy program that best fits their needs and goals. We know how important it is to be paired with someone who understands and shares lived experiences in order to form a safe and healing therapist-client relationship.
The Rural Youth Outreach program provides support for LGBTQIA+ youth in areas of California where there is limited or no access to queer-affirming resources in the local community. The Program aims to connect with students who feel isolated and supports them by providing access to individual and group counseling.
The Emerging Queer Artists Program provides support for up-and-coming LGBTQIA+ artists in the Bay Area (18-30 years old) who lack affordable access to mental health and substance abuse services. The program aims to connect local queer artists to individual and group counseling so that they can continue to invest in their work without sacrificing their mental health and wellness in the process.
Our internationally-recognized training program begins in August and runs for 12 months. The goal of the program is to give students the knowledge and tools to provide culturally affirming psychotherapy to the LGBTQIA+ community. Training also emphasizes developing an understanding of the therapist’s role in eliminating bias and discrimination within the queer community as well as understanding the effects of discrimination and oppression in broader society.
Outlandish! is a new program that takes LGBTQIA+ youth on hikes and other outdoor activities. There are numerous studies demonstrating that time spent outside in nature is incredibly valuable for youth. Participants in the program, chaperoned by qualified adults, will be immersed in the natural world where they can learn about themselves and the complex ecosystems around them.
Your Support Matters Now More Than Ever
Queer LifeSpace is but one of many pillars of support for the LGBTQIA+ community in the Bay Area and beyond. The mental health of a society is utterly intertwined with the mental health of its members. If we are going to change the world by carrying on the work of our courageous predecessors, then we must prioritize the mental wellbeing of our people.
There is still so much at stake. The seemingly endless struggle for our right to live and thrive leaves marks. It leaves marks on us mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically. Your donation will go directly toward ensuring that current and future clients continue to have affordable access to the mental healthcare they need so that they can thrive.
The most critical challenge we currently face as an organization is being able to expand our capacity to work with more therapists and clients. We are working hard to solve this issue with the help of your financial support. The more clients we can serve, the more positive impacts we can have on the broader community.
Please consider making a one-time or recurring tax-deductible donation to Queer LifeSpace. Give the gift of affordable mental healthcare to someone who urgently needs it today.
