About Elket's Ministry
Empowering Lives at the Crossroads
"In a context filled with misinformation, Elket brings the good news of immigration to migrants, and those who serve them."
In the bustling border town of Harlingen, Texas, Elket RodrÃguez stands at the intersection of compassion and advocacy.
Commissioned in 2022, Elket's mission transcends borders, serving communities and migrants in the expansive U.S.-Mexico border region, spanning four U.S. states and six Mexican states.
Leaving behind a career as a family and government attorney in Puerto Rico, Elket embarked on a transformative path that would lead him to become an immigration attorney in Harlingen, Texas. Elket immersed himself in community service and ministry, unveiling a passion for assisting immigrants. In 2020, he answered a higher calling, joining the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Fellowship Southwest as an Immigrant and Refugee Advocate and Missions Specialist.
Elket's ministry operates in three crucial contexts: the US-Mexico border, Washington D.C., and Latin America. With a dual focus on migrants and pastors, churches, and organizations, he bridges the gap between those seeking help and those offering it. His multifaceted approach includes direct services such as:
During the migrant surge of summer 2022, Elket's partnership efforts with churches and organizations in Brownsville, Texas, provided crucial assistance to approximately 3,000 migrants released by Customs and Border Protection, offering them food, clothing, shelter, and support.
Elket's impact extends far beyond borders, collaborating with many international, national, and local religious organizations advocating for migrants in forums ranging from the Texas Capitol to Mexico and Washington D.C. Mission trips lie at the heart of Elket's advocacy strategy, providing immersive experiences that foster understanding and transformation.
From empowering migrants for a safe journey to training communities for impactful advocacy, Elket’s ministry is a beacon of hope and transformation. As he navigates the complex landscape of border issues, Elket's dedication shines through.
