Help GAIA Support the 30,000 Households Displaced by Tropical Storm Ana

About the Campaign

Shortly after Tropical Storm Ana struck, the GAIA team sprung into action to ensure continuity of care (despite bridges being washed out) and to bring much needed health care to the newly displaced. With rains continuing throughout February, and made worse by the arrival of Cyclone Gombe in mid-March, the emergency response has morphed into a longer term role in the displacement camps that have sprung up throughout the affected districts. Joyce and her team have  repurposed vehicles, crafted agreements with district health offices to supply medicines, hired temporary clinical staff and drivers, and negotiated fuel donations from partner organizations.  As a result, we are turning to our community of funders to support this unexpected, unbudgeted emergency activity.

GAIA has started a campaign to fundraise for these emergency relief activities, with a goal of raising $30,000 –  all of which will support the 30,000 households affected in Mulanje and Phalombe Districts. Together, we can ensure that those whose lives have been upended by Tropical Storm Ana have access to the care they need in the aftermath.
