Feeding Hungry Kids

At the beginning of April, 2020, Overflowing Hands and Rocky Top Catering partnered together to serve fresh, nutritious meals to children and families in Wake County. Schools closed due to COVID-19 leaving 51,000+ students that would not be receiving hot meals through the free and reduced lunch program. The Wake County Public School System and supporting organizations have been able to provide lunch and breakfast to about 17,000 kids, but that still leaves more than 34,000 children that are hungry and NEED TO BE FED.

To date, Rocky Top Catering and Overflowing Hands have distributed more than 280,000 meals to kids and families in Wake County. We are grateful to World Central Kitchen (wck.org) and our hundreds of supporters that came together to fund meals and volunteer to deliver meals.  

Our challenge:  although our lives and businesses are beginning to open up, there is still much need to feed the hungry in our community. Our team is delivering meals to some of the most needy and underserved in Wake County....in mobile home parks, apartment communities and forgotten neighborhoods. 

How can YOU Help? To continue distributing family meals every Monday and Friday, funding is needed. 18,000 meals are needed EACH week at a cost of $3.00/meal.  100% of your donation will buy the food to prepare these meals, with NO fees or administration costs.  No gift is too big or too small.
