Fundraiser for the Children's Eternal Rainforest has raised $2,564 out of their goal of $5,000
About the Campaign
This past fall our class had the privilege of studying at the Children's Eternal Rainforest (Bosque Eterno de los Niños or BEN in Spanish), one of the most biodiverse areas on our planet! As a show of our gratitude and appreciation, we would love your help in giving back to this incredible forest, which remains one of the few bastions of hope for those who care about the natural world as much as we do.
The Children’s Eternal Rainforest is Costa Rica’s largest private nature preserve, spanning roughly 87 square miles. While the preserve makes up only 0.00015% of the Earth’s land surface, it is home to a wildly disproportionate amount of the world's flora and fauna – including 2% of the world's orchid species, more than 3% of the butterflies, and almost 5% of the world's birds. Hundreds of thousands of North American birds (yes, really!) pass through the BEN during migration every year.
The Children's Eternal Rainforest is also home to endangered species like jaguars, tapirs, and green-eyed frogs. These species are on the brink of extinction due to widespread habitat loss and climate change, and preserves like BEN are rapidly becoming their only option. Protecting these species from poaching and wildlife extraction is very expensive, and BEN needs our help keeping them safe.
Any gift – no matter the amount – helps to ensure the long-term conservation of this unique and important forest. Please donate today and help us make the Children’s Eternal Rainforest truly eternal!
