A Year of Dental Health $30
The mouth is the gateway to the body. As such, dental health and overall health are intertwined, and poor oral health can signal other disease and possibly lead to systemic disease. With your support, Floating Doctors ensures patients receive regular dental examinations and treatment of caries and other issues. In addition, we give patients toothbrushes and toothpaste, as well as ongoing education on proper dental hygiene. With proper tools, education, and treatment, our patients will be better prepared to live healthy lives.
Pediatric Health Kit $80
Children are the messages we send to the future- and also one of our most vulnerable populations. In our region, children still die from diarrheal disease and respiratory infections, or suffer from tuberculosis or heart defects that go untreated. Less life-threatening issues like scabies, worms, dental cavities and poor nutrition cause school absences and chronic debilitation. Stocking a pediatric kit with items most often needed in the first five years of life- soap, children's vitamins, de-worming medication, oral health tools, and oral rehydration solution, along with monitoring growth and development- helps to ensure a healthy start for the future leaders of the Ngäbe communities.
Women's and Maternal Health $150
Healthy women make healthy communities! One of the most effective ways to make sure children are born and grow up healthy is to take care of the mom. Almost 70% of our consults are with female patients, and more than half of them are of child-bearing age. Your gift provides education, assessments, and contraception(as desired) for preventive care. We carry portable ultrasounds to offer screening for OBGYN issues as well as prenatal scanning. With more advanced needs, we help coordinate and pay for transportation, appointments, procedures, and labs for our patients, and we are on-call to help address emergency care. Post-partum, we provide well-checks on mother and baby, and offer breastfeeding support to ensure a healthy start for mother and baby.
Healthy Annimals Kit $250
The health of the animals in a community and the way they are treated can be an indicator of the overall health of a community. Many of our patients keep dogs and cats and the odd jungle animal as pets, and a family may have its entire annual wealth invested in a cow or pig, or they may depend on their horse to make a living. Chronic parasites that weaken a domestic farm animal, or acute accidents that put animals’ health at risk may be catastrophic not just for the animal, but for the family that relies on it to survive. Your gift will ensure that a family's animal is seen regularly and treated for parasites and checked and treated for disease and acute issues. With your support, we can educate people and ensure healthy lives for our animal friends.

In exceptional circumstances where the designated purposes are not longer feasible or have been completed, Floating Doctors may redirect such gifts to other appropriate programs or projects. Under such circumstances, Floating Doctors Executive and Program Directors will, to the extent deemed feasible, retain the basic original purpose of the donation.
