Hygiene Kit $25
With a donation of $25, that is enough to provide one senior with much-needed hygiene supplies.
Bedding $50
A generous donation of $50 is enough to get a comfortable bed set up for a senior at our shelter.
Adult Diapers $100
With a $100 donation, you can cover the cost of one month's supply of adult diapers for a senior in need.
Senior Support $350
Many incidentals come up when a senior is putting their life back together after experiencing homelessness. A donation of $350 can cover expenses for securing an ID card, birth certificate, and more.
Home Safety $1,000
For our seniors with disabilities, a thoughtful donation of $1,000 allows us to outfit their new home with furniture and fixtures to meet their needs.
Transportation Help $2,500
A kind donation of $2,500 is enough to meet the transportation needs for all of the seniors at our shelter for one year!
About the Campaign
This holiday season, your gift will have twice the impact when you make a donation to help our seniors at the Torres Community Shelter. Will you give the gift of shelter today?
Senior citizens are the fastest growing population of adults experiencing homelessness nationwide. We are seeing this same trend: 35% of our Torres Shelter guests are older adults.
Many of our senior guests have disabilities and/or health needs that require special attention and accommodations.
We need your help this holiday season to continue providing compassionate care to our seniors. Stopping this crisis requires swift action and financial support to help them secure safe, affordable housing.
For a limited time, your impact will be DOUBLED! Starting on Giving Tuesday, November 29th and through the rest of the year, the Emil & Leonora Stiefvater Senior Endowment Fund at the North Valley Community Foundation will match every dollar raised in our Home Again campaign up to $50,000. The Stiefvaters
This campaign is made possible by a dollar-for-dollar matching donation from the Emil & Leonora Stiefvater Senior Endowment Fund, which will match all contributions made up to $50,000.
The Emil & Leonora Stiefvater Senior Endowment at the North Valley Community Foundation exists to support the emotional, physical, and/or spiritual needs of older adults. Its grant program provides financial and infrastructure support to nonprofit organizations that serve seniors.
Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity held once a year. This year it was on November 29th. Many nonprofit organizations keep the spirit of Giving Tuesday alive through the rest of the holiday season. It gives us a chance to let you know what we need, and how you can help make the greatest difference.
We launched Home Again on Giving Tuesday 2023. By donating to our Home Again campaign, you also support the spirit of Giving Tuesday and:
- Join a worldwide movement spanning 80 countries that helped raise $2.7 billion for charity and programs like ours in 2021.
- Join a local movement across Butte County that helped raise over $85,000 for local nonprofits like ours in 2021.
- Join the successful efforts of our dedicated team at the Torres Shelter and make a difference in the lives of homeless seniors. In 2021, we served nearly 700 people and housed nearly 300.
