About Karen's Ministry
Karen serves in Northern Africa amongst refugee and migrant communities. She serves on the pastoral board of the only legally recognized Protestant Church in her country and works primarily with their outreach ministry to refugees and migrants from sub-Saharan Africa.
Karen has previous experience living cross-culturally in Nepal, serving as an Associate Pastor in Atlanta, and teaching elementary school general music in North Carolina. She was ordained to Christian Ministry in 2015 after graduating with her Master of Divinity and Master of Science in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership degrees from Mercer University. Nurturing a calling to full-time cross-cultural service and responding to a vocational calling to serve the global Church led Karen to seek field personnel service opportunities through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 2018.
Karen serves in pastoral ministry with the local church in Northern Africa. Her French-speaking church was established in 1907 and serves as a spiritual home to the Protestant diaspora community in her country. The church has 13 parishes spread throughout the country, and about 95% of its members are international students who are actively enrolled in higher education there. Karen serves as one of the pastors of the church’s diaconate branch, in ministry to refugees and migrants from sub-Saharan Africa who find themselves in urgent need of humanitarian aid, community, and care in Northern Africa.
The diaconate ministry where Karen serves as pastor has eleven volunteer teams based out of different parishes throughout her country. Each of these church teams serves their vulnerable neighbors by providing a listening ear, offering humanitarian aid, and considering development opportunities that might be available. Karen serves in an administrative function, and her role includes project management, program administration, strategic planning, fundraising, donor relations, volunteer training, and member care.
Your support of Karen’s ministry helps her church members bear witness to the love of Christ by equipping them to welcome, love, and care for their most neglected neighbors. Your donation helps these volunteers to:
Your support enables Karen to invest in the lives of these volunteers by providing training, emergency support, and pastoral visits.
