COVID-19 has altered daily lives for KCTL families living in densely populated New York City Public Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments. Families are struggling to get essential supplies to maintain a healthy living space, putting them at a higher risk to contract - and spread - the virus.
Self-quarantine measures also make it even more difficult for parents/guardians to juggle work (or unemployment) and provide 24/7 care, educational support, and entertainment for their children. A mother of three KCTL students expressed that in addition to basic essential needs like food and soap, what she could use help with is giving her normally very active children something to DO inside. This is where Kings County Tennis League is ready to help.
The KCTL Cares campaign will secure funding to deliver care packages to families living in/around Brooklyn Public Housing with:
Tennis/fitness equipment and learning technology so KCTL students can participate in our new virtual tennis and educational program; and,
Gift cards to local grocery stores or online vendors to reduce the financial burden of purchasing essential supplies.
Give families living in the eye of the COVID-19 storm
an athletic outlet and the essential goods they need:
Includes tennis/fitness equipment and learning technology so KCTL students can participate in our new virtual tennis and educational program + gift cards to local grocery stores or online vendors to reduce the financial burden on families to purchase essential supplies.
