About the Campaign
The Tank is a nonprofit home for new performance in New York City. We provide over 3,000 artists with free performance space from our theaters on 36th Street in Manhattan. We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary this year—and the tens of thousands of artists we’ve served since 2003.
The pandemic shuttered over 22 small performance spaces city-wide, and more space closures are looming. At the same time, larger theaters are feeling the crunch and cutting back—especially on developing new work and new artists. The Tank has been pinch-hitting to meet these growing needs. In the last year, we’ve offered even more space to artists by launching our rehearsal studios in The Tank Attic—just upstairs from our theaters, which were abuzz with over 750 shows in 2023.
We can't do this important work without YOU! The Tank is a critical part of the cultural ecosystem in New York City. We stretch every dollar to serve as many artists as possible. Our staff works tirelessly all year to help hundreds of projects make it on stage, and your support means more than ever.
