About Our Fundraising Efforts
Our AdventHealth Manchester community and surrounding communities have experienced their third flood and second major flood in the last 18 months. Eastern Kentucky has been devastated by significant flooding and mudslides, leaving both patients and team members homeless. Vehicles, driveway bridges, and everything but the clothes on their backs have been washed away, destroyed, or severely damaged. The same team members that have worked countless hours during the last two years fighting COVID-19, now find themselves homeless or housing homeless families and friends.
One of the areas hit hardest by the flooding has been Oneida, the community where AdventHealth Manchester was originally founded and the current home of one of our primary care clinics. While neither the hospital nor the clinic suffered damages, three team members experienced the total loss of their homes and vehicles, while at least 12 others suffered other significant losses. In addition to the losses suffered by our team members, the patients and families we serve in the Oneida community have suffered devastating losses and damages.
The hospital is setting up a rescue hub in partnership with the local health department, in addition to stockpiling water, arranging transportation for patients and team members, and collecting funds for basic needs, such as clothing, shoes, personal care products, non-perishable foods and more.
If you’d like to help support the flood relief efforts in AdventHealth Manchester’s service areas, you can make a tax-deductible donation to our Kentucky Flood Relief Fund, which will go to support these communities with housing, transportation, and other urgent needs. Every donation, regardless of size, will help support these communities as they recover and rebuild from this devastating event.
