Everyone loves books. One of our avid readers was helping put shelves together but couldn't take his eyes off his book. An inspiration to us all.

Bell Bird - Lights on for a month! $50

Did you know that 95% of the electricity generated in Costa Rica is renewable? We do our best to keep our usage low, but it is hard to read books without good light. When we first started, we didn't have electricity. We used candles and people searched the shelves with their cell phones.

Mot Mot - Site security for a month. $100

Santa Elena is a safe community, but "an ounce of prevention" as they say. The Mall where we are located has security 24/7 which the library must contribute to every month!

Quetzal Level - Overhead for a month. $500

We are an all volunteer Library, but keeping the doors open still costs something. We serve hundreds of families each year on a budget of about $6,000. A donation at this level lets us breathe easier for a whole month!

About the Campaign

Santa Elena, Monteverde, Costa Rica is a community with no bookstores and limited access to books in Spanish. 

In 2014, a small group of volunteers opened a free lending library with a small collection of children's books.  Thanks to generous donations from people like you, the collection has grown to over 6,000 books and 12 computers.  

Your donation, no matter how small, will help keep this little library a vibrant place of learning and enjoyment.
