The Shine Collective

Empower Women to End Poverty

Women are a community's greatest resource,

yet they're under-resourced.

  • When communities lack water, women have to haul it from distant springs.
  • When children get sick, women care for them.
  • Bound homes to raise families, women often lack employment opportunities.
  • Women are under-represented in church and community leadership.

Empowered women transform communities.

The Shine Collective

The ENLACE Shine Collective is a network of Shine groups across the country committed to learning about the crucial role of women in development and financially supporting ENLACE initiatives that empower women to transform their communities.

FAQs

Why should I join the ENLACE Shine Collective?
Beyond supporting a worthy cause, joining or starting a Shine Collective group can create a generous community of people who think deeply and act intentionally, thoughtfully, and strategically—together.

What do Shine groups do?
All Shine groups are as unique as their leaders, but in general Shine groups gather at least once a year to build community, learn together, and pool resources to provide crucial support for under-resourced women in the communities ENLACE serves.

Where do my financial resources go?
Shine financial gifts go towards initiatives and programs that equip women and girls to build healthy homes and communities.

Can I start my own Shine group?
Yes! You can start by creating a fundraising page as an individual, and ask friends in your group to donate to your page, or create a team fundraising page and ask your friends to donate to the team page or become fundraisers for the team.

How do I start a Shine group?
Just gather your friends, set a fundraising goal, set up a fundraising page, and brainstorm fundraising ideas. It’s fun and fulfilling to make a positive impact with friends!

Can I join an established Shine group?
Of course! Shine groups typically meet in a specific city in the U.S. So if you live nearby or hear about an event close to you, jump in!

Can I talk to other Shine leaders?
Absolutely! Reach out to Shine Denver leader
Liz Baldwin to share experiences and be put in touch with other Shine leaders. It’s a great way to learn about get-togethers and fundraising events that have worked for others.

Do I have to join a group to donate to Shine?
You can make a donation at any time to the Shine Collective without joining a group or starting one. Simply click on the donate button at the top of the webpage.

Start Fundraising to Empower Women Today

To help you set a goal, here are a few of the women-empowering initiatives the Shine Collective supports.

Eco Stove $350

A gift of this amount can provide an Eco Stove to one family to reduce by 2/3 the time women spend gathering firewood. Eco Stoves also reduce wood smoke to prevent upper respiratory infections, a leading cause of death in children.

Fundraise

Composting Latrine $500

A gift of this amount can be used to build a composting latrine that will keep groundwater safe from contamination and prevent illness, reduce child mortality, and ease the burden of women who care for sick children.

Fundraise

Family Chicken Business $1,000

A gift of this amount can empower a woman entrepreneur to run a family chicken business, helping her take charge of her family's economy and nutrition. Support includes all infrastructure materials, training, and 3 years of business coaching.

Fundraise

Support Women's Leadership $4,500

A gift of this amount can provide salary support for one of ENLACE's women leaders. ENLACE employs women engineers, technicians, and church facilitators who become positive role models for girls as they work to raise women's voices in community life.

How ENLACE DOUBLES Your Impact!

To ensure long-term sustainability, all ENLACE projects are locally identified, managed, sustained, and at least 50% locally funded. Your gift will be matched by a community contribution of the same or greater value in the form of materials, labor, and locally raised funds. We will direct your gift to the project type you selected if a community has identified it as a need. Otherwise, gifts are directed to the next-biggest need identified by the community. This approach doubles your impact while ensuring sustainability for years to come.

We'd love to hear from you!
