Cover the cost of transportation $15
$15 supports transportation for one girl to attend a field trip. Transportation is a huge barrier in our community.
Fund a field trip experience $20
We take our girls on field trips once a week thanks to great partnerships within the community. Many of our girls go to places they may not have otherwise been able to afford or get to due to transportation barriers. $20 can support a field trip experience for one Camp Diva girl.
Camp Diva swag $35
$35 will provide one girl with a special bag, reusable Camp Diva water bottle, and a Camp Diva T-shirt.
Provide snacks for the week $100
$100 helps us refill our snack supplies to ensure our girls have healthy snacks throughout the day. After all, a Girl's gotta eat!
About the Campaign
Each summer, Girls For A Change offers rising 1st- through 8th-grade girls an entire summer full of experiential programing that fuels self-discovery, efficacy, and confidence.
Camp Diva offers Black girls and other girls of color an affordable Camp experience that covers the entire summer, giving working parents a safe and beneficial option for their daughters. Many of our camp experiences would not otherwise be an option for these girls due to multiple barriers. Healthy meals, transportation for field trips, a safe space where they can be with peers, and access to a growing network of successful women who offer mentorship and advice are just a few of the many benefits Camp Diva Leadership Academy offers.
This year, Camp Diva is in jeopordy as parents find themselves in difficult financial situations due to the current pandemic. Camp Diva is GFAC's biggest program and source of revenue. As more parents find themselves not able to afford to send their girls to camp, GFAC also risks what that might mean to our organization financially.
But you can help! We are currently fundraising for supplies and scholarships to send girls to camp. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make an impact on Black girls in the community.
About Camp Diva
At Camp Diva Leaderhip Academy, girls explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) labs. As they are immersed in these subjects, they begin to understand that girls, too, can be pioneers in these areas. Girls will spend each day learning about programming, sewing, robotics and more with state-of-the-art machinery like including 3-D printers, vinyl cutters, laser engravers, or Raspberry Pi computers!
In addition to our focused STEAM programming, girls will enjoy traditional camp activities and experience weekly themes focused on areas such as visual arts, health and wellness, financial literacy, green living, character development and leadership skills, plus fun-filled weekly field trips. Along the way, they’ll build new friendships and create lasting memories!
