About LPF Detroit

Leveling the Playing Field redistributes free sports equipment to kids from under-resourced communities across the country, ensuring they can access the mental and physical benefits of youth sports.

LPF opened its inaugural warehouse in Washington DC in 2013,  successfully replicated our model in 2018 when we expanded into Baltimore, Philadelphia in 2021, and Buffalo and Columbus in 2023. 

With support from the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation, LPF is thrilled to have its sixth warehouse open in 2025 in Detroit, MI!

Now, we need your support to help us get off the ground in Detroit! Your contributions will help us cover the costs of rent, utilities, shelving and storage, travel for our staff to pick up gear across the local area, and other program costs. Thanks to generous community partners we are quickly making progress in Michigan collecting sports equipment, fundraising, and spreading the word about our work. 

Our goal is to raise an additional $100,000 by 2027 to help sustain our work long-term. With your help, we can increase access to youth sports and recreation in the Greater Detroit area
