About the Leveling the Playing Field

Leveling the Playing Field redistributes free sports equipment to kids from under-resourced communities across the country, ensuring they can access the mental and physical benefits of youth sports.

Research shows that participating in sports can improve social-emotional development, improve grades, and even lower rates of crime and drug use. However, the cost of sports equipment is one of the most commonly cited barriers to participation in youth sports among low-income families. That's where we come in!

About LPF Ohio

LPF opened its inaugural warehouse in Washington DC in 2013,  successfully replicated our model in 2018 when we expanded into Baltimore, and then Philadelphia in 2021. 

LPF is excited to have its fourth and fifth warehouses open in 2023 in Buffalo, NY and Columbus, OH. Currently our Ohio program is renting a temporary warehouse space that we are quickly outgrowing. In order to find a permanent home for Ohio with ample space to collect and store gear for the community, LPF needs to secure long-term funding. Dollars will go directly toward covering the costs of rent, utilities, shelving and storage, travel for our staff to pick up gear across the Greater Columbus area, and other program costs. 

Our goal is to raise $300,000 by 2027 and we need your help to reach this goal! With your support, we can help increase access to youth sports and recreation in communities throughout Ohio.
