Gloria Nelly Cejudo passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in Playas de Tijuana, Mexico, on September 15, 2023, after a valiant two-year battle with Gastrointestinal Cancer. She was just 40 years old.
Born on September 19, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, Gloria was raised in Phoenix, Arizona where she attended Grand Canyon University and received her Bachelor's degree in psychology.
Gloria embraced life with an adventurous spirit. She was a devoted CrossFit junky and embarked on a journey as a world traveler at a remarkably young age. She checked off her bucket list twice, including the thrill of skydiving!
Her passions ranged from everything Glitz & Glam to holidays and cooking. In her role at Southwest Keys, she dedicated herself to counseling and aiding many children, including victims of human trafficking. Gloria bore witness to both the beauty and harshness of humanity, always choosing love and kindness in her endeavors, particularly when working with children.
At the age of 39, while exploring the Mexican terrain on an adventurous quad biking excursion through the Sonoran Desert, Gloria faced a life altering challenge. An overheated oil tank led to an explosion that propelled her from her quad, resulting in severe second-degree burns from her inner left thigh to her foot. Two good Samaritans, rushed her to safety, ultimately saving her life.
During her recovery, Gloria underwent a medical procedure, but her condition failed to improve. In October 2021 the diagnosis revealed stage 4 gastrointestinal cancer, and the medical "experts" gave her a prognosis of 4-6 months to live. In December of 2021, Gloria sought treatment at C.H.I.P.S.A Hospital in Playas de Tijuana, where she received dedicated care that extended her life by an additional 2 years.
Gloria's final aspirations was to assist others battling cancer by directing them to C.H.I.P.S.A Hospital, where compassionate care knew no bounds, regardless of the stage of diagnosis.
Gloria was cherished by all who knew her and will be profoundly missed, leaving a void that words cannot adequately express.
