As the Chief’s top equipment priority for this year, “plate carriers” also known as rifle-proof vests, are worn over an officer’s soft body armor, adding a layer of protection from high caliber rounds. Unfortunately, not all SDPD’s patrol officers have this piece of safety equipment. At $878 each, your lifesaving gift will fund one (1) “plate carrier” for a SDPD patrol officer. A gift of any size is warmly welcomed for this lifesaving equipment. Become a lifeSAVER today!
The K9 Unit is called when a dangerous incident is in progress, such as a burglary, robbery, or vehicle pursuit. Police dogs de-escalate violent situations, making the use of deadly force by officers exponentially less likely. Your donation will be used to purchase new police dogs or training and safety equipment.
Our children are spending more time online than offline. The dangers and challenges they face can be overwhelming, and they often don’t know how to navigate the internet on their own. It costs only $5 per child to provide lifesaving internet safety training to our local schools and community groups. By funding this award winning, research-based program, your gift will keep our kids safe online.
About the Campaign
Our goal is a simple one that impacts everyone in our community: creating a safer San Diego.
For over 20 years, the San Diego Police Foundation has funded the lifesaving equipment and vital training needs of the San Diego Police Department that are beyond the
City budget, including the award-winning SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices® program.
With your help, the Police Foundation has granted over $8 million to fund key priorities and critical needs. However, there remains a great need.
Your donation will contribute to the safety of our beaches, neighborhoods, and schools. Please donate now.
