STAR/PAL offers free programs for underserved and at-risk youth in San Diego that are led by law enforcement officers. These programs focus on violence prevention, mentoring, leadership, civic engagement, outdoor enrichment, and physical fitness.
Our mission is to empower underserved youth to build a safer and more prosperous community by engaging with law enforcement and collaborative partners.
Each year STAR/PAL provides thousands of youth in San Diego with programming featuring law enforcement officers as mentors.
Your Impact
Help the youth in our Making Changes Program reach their goal of 250 community service hours. Your contribution could facilitate our youth to attend community events, leadership conferences and other training on their quest to achieve the President's Volunteer Service Award. There are currently 60 high school students enrolled in this program.
This level would support a program like our Get Elevated Summer Leadership Bootcamp, which teaches youth about teambuilding, social responsibility, conflict resolution, goal setting, financial literacy, leadership, community service, etiquette training and civic engagement.
This crime and violence prevention program combines law enforcement, teachers, and the arts by addressing various issues such as school violence, drug & alcohol abuse, sexual assault, and bullying. This level would enable us in our goal to bring this program into more local high schools.
