Appalachian Trail: New Jersey

#MakeYourMilesCount and Support Project U.S.E. Programs

Register Early to Hit the Trails and #MakeYourMilesCount

The first 15 supporters to sign up for before Monday, April 11th for each hike distance will get 50% off the registration fee to participate in our 2022 Annual Hike Campaign. Each adult hiker will be expected to raise between $80 - $250 (depending on hike distance) in peer-to-peer fundraising. All funds raised will go to the worthy cause of expanding access to outdoor programs for the students who need it most!

Registration Info & Instructions

  • There is a small registration fee to hike to help cover event costs, but we encourage all hikers to fundraise leading up to the event. We help support your fundraising efforts by sharing a social media kit, helpful tips, and information about our matching donation programs which help every dollar that hikers raise create even more impact.

  • Each hiker's fundraising goal will be set at $80 - $250 depending on your hike distance, but many participants will raise significantly more to help us exceed our goal of $30,000.  Please note that the fundraising expectations are a *suggestion* - we will be waiving the formal requirement for hikers and just ask that you make your best effort to support us however you can!  The hike is part of a great tradition with a tight-knit community, and we'll have Project U.S.E. gear and incentives for dedicated fundraisers.

  • Participants can choose one of three hike options: 50 miles16.5 miles, or 6 miles.  Check out the links below for more information about each hike.

  • All hikes will finish at High Point State Park.

  • There will be a BBQ reception and fundraising awards ceremony at High Point State Park at the end of the day for all participants.  The events for the day will fully wrap up around 7:30 p.m.

About the Campaign

Each year over 150 people from all over New Jersey and beyond hike and dedicate their miles on the trail to raise money for Project U.S.E.'s powerful experiential programming. You can join us on the Appalachian Trail on May 7th, or choose to walk or hike wherever you are to help fundraise in support of our mission.

All proceeds will help Project U.S.E. sponsor and fund more adventure-based outdoor education programs for underserved youth participants throughout New Jersey, including multi-day backpacking trips, community gardening job-skills & healthy living programs, and single-day wilderness programs at our Wildcat Mountain Wilderness Center.

With your help, we can continue our work expanding access to high-quality outdoor programming for students who need it the most.
