Carver’s 2024 Child of America Gala promises to be unforgettable evening. Held on Friday, May 17th, at Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk, this highly anticipated annual event is the cornerstone fundraiser supporting Carver's vital after-school, summer, and community programs that empower and enrich the lives of children in every Norwalk K-12 public school and beyond.


The evening will commence with a lavish cocktail reception, where attendees can mingle, listen to a fabulous live band, and enjoy exquisite hors d'oeuvres and open bar. The main event will follow in the elegantly appointed ballroom, where guests will be treated to a sumptuous three-course dinner, expertly prepared by the club's renowned culinary team.

This year's Child of America Gala will honor Darrick Hamilton, PhD. whose life's work has been dedicated to promoting economic justice, empowering marginalized communities, and shaping policies that address systemic inequalities. As the Henry Cohen Professor of Economics and Urban Policy at The New School, and the founding director of the Institute on Race, Power, and Political Economy, Professor Hamilton has established himself as one of the nation's foremost public intellectuals.


Dr. Hamilton's impact extends beyond academia, as he has been instrumental in crafting groundbreaking policy proposals that have gained national attention and inspired legislative action at various levels of government. His innovative ideas, including baby bonds, guaranteed income, and a federal job guarantee, have sparked crucial conversations and pushed the boundaries of what is possible in addressing socioeconomic disparities.


By honoring Darrick Hamilton, PhD. at the 2024 Child of America Gala, Carver recognizes his exceptional contributions to advancing economic justice and empowering the next generation. At this year's Child of America Gala, Carver will honor Sound Control Technologies and the Neaderland family as the "Community Builder" honorees.
