About Special Olympics Texas

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Why Support

SOTX has a powerful impact on our community at large and your donations and support can help make the dreams of our athletes, as well as their family and friends come true. The positive benefits of your support reach far beyond the day of event changing the lives of our athletes, volunteers, coaches, and community members.

Special Olympics athletes:

perform better in school

enjoy stronger family relationships

make more friends

are more prepared to live and work in their communities

44% of Special Olympics athletes become employed, compared to only 28% of individuals with intellectual disabilities who do not participate in Special Olympics.

89¢ of every dollar raised by Special Olympics Texas goes directly to support programs for SOTX athletes.
