After a long hiatus from endurance events, I'm making a triumphant (hopefully) return with a 5k on May 20!  What better way to get back into the swing of things than by helping my favorite creatures on the planet: ANIMALS!!  (No offense humans, but you know where my priorities lie!) 

Last August, for my birthday, I visited Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary and absolutely fell in love.  It is my heaven on earth.  If you're not familiar, it is a non-profit refuge for farm animals and wildlife here in Maryland.  They offer rehabilitation and permanent housing for neglected, abused or abandoned farm animals.  I met so many amazing animals during my visit and it has stayed with me since.  

Over the past few months, I've been thinking about how I can give back to this amazing organization, then came the 5k!  This is a way for me to combine my two passions and do something beneficial for the sanctuary.
