On April 25, 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake stuck Nepal, destroying hundreds of thousands of homes and taking thousands of lives. 98% of homes in Takure, a rural village in Nepal, were destroyed.

Even today, when locals describe the day, you can still feel the emotion and devastation of the memory. 

This April, I will be spending a month in Takure to volunteer with the non-profit organization Conscious Impact. Since the earthquake, CI has been helping the local community rebuild safe homes and water distribution systems, plant income generating trees and supporting quality education. This is about sustainable and environmentally conscious impact, empowering and connecting with generations to come.

Please join me in making a donation, which will go directly to the community of Takure and the following initiatives: 

1) Introducing environmentally friendly and locally produced building material called Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB). They test 4x stronger than traditional clay bricks and can easily be built into safe, earthquake-resistant homes.

2) Restoring and regenerating the local environment with organic agriculture and permaculture principles, supporting local farmers in organic coffee production and agroforestry to increase their income.

3) Initiating a community-driven water distribution project to provide safe and secure water access to 101 families. 

4) Running a youth program designed to serve rural students through the enhancement of educational opportunities and extracurricular education.

To me, this is about sinking my hands into the Earth and connecting fully with local communities, the earth, volunteers from around the world, and marrying all those beautiful things together.
