My name is Brad Denner.  I am a registered nurse, and I've had a lifelong passion for fitness. I love being active and I set a goal for my 40th birthday to run the New York City marathon.  I have never run a marathon before so I wanted to set the bar as high as possible in order to challenge myself.  

AKTIV Against Cancer has selected me to be a member of their team to run the 2023 NYC marathon. The opportunity to challenge myself as well as raise money for charity is rewarding, exciting, and slightly terrifying. 

Cancer has unfortunately played a significant part in my life. I lost both of my grandparents to various forms of cancer. Several of the male members of family have had brushes with prostate cancer.  My mom fought her own battle with breast cancer and was victorious! My wife, now at age 40, has already had a lumpectomy and has a lifetime risk of 69% for breast cancer.  

Please join my mission to raise over $5,000 for AKTIV Against Cancer.  An amazing organization doing research on the benefits of physical activity to reduce cancer progression and improve patients response to anticancer therapy.
