Dear friends and supporters,

I have been given the incredible opportunity to run in this year's New York City Marathon, and I am dedicating this journey to a cause that is close to my heart: cancer research and support through AKTIV Against Cancer.

Why AKTIV Against Cancer?

AKTIV Against Cancer is an extraordinary organization that believes in the power of physical activity to become an integral part of cancer treatment. The positive impact of exercise on cancer patients' lives includes reducing unwanted side effects of chemotherapy, increasing strength and energy, and improving overall quality of life. But it doesn't stop there. Recent research indicates that physical activity can go beyond symptom control; it may reduce cancer progression and improve a patient's response to anticancer therapy. This gives hope to millions of people fighting this terrible disease.

Running for Loved Ones

Cancer has touched the lives of many people I hold dear which is why I chose to run for AKTIV Against Cancer. My grandmother and grandfather both faced the challenges of this disease with incredible strength and courage, but it eventually claimed their lives. Their memory and the love we shared inspires me every day.

I also run for my girlfriend's father Jeff, who left us far too soon. Her strength and his spirit guides me, and I want to do everything in my power to honor his and my grandparents' memory by supporting cancer research and making a positive impact.

I am also running in honor of my best friend, Vincent, who tragically lost his life way to early in an accident. He was the kind of person who inspired everyone around him, and I know he would have run this marathon with me or maybe waited behind the finish line ready to celebrate, he was a wild card for sure. 

Making a Difference Together

By supporting AKTIV Against Cancer, we have the opportunity to change the landscape of cancer management and provide hope to those battling this disease. The funds raised will directly contribute to crucial Exercise Oncology research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, led by Dr. Lee Jones. This research aims to find innovative ways to improve cancer treatments, reduce side effects, and ultimately, save lives.
