Will you be a Dorm Room Hero in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month?

As Dorm Room Heroes, Canyon Partners will help Ready to Succeed (RTS) provide dorm room essentials and support to 320 college-going foster youth on SoCal campuses this back-to-school season and in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Every year over 4,000 former foster youth head to college all alone. They have no one there to mark the special occasion and many can’t afford essential supplies to create a comfortable space or prepare for class. Without a sense of community and/or their basic needs met, only 4% of foster youth will graduate, leaving them at high risk of experiencing homelessness, poverty and mental health challenges. This is where Ready to Succeed (RTS) comes in!

As the only organization in CA wholly dedicated to helping foster youth graduate from four-year colleges and go on to launch living-wage careers, RTS's Project Dorm Room ensures that Southern California based foster youth, most of which are Latinx and low income, have the dorm room essentials and move-in support they need to launch a successful college career. When we distribute dorm room supplies to these students, we also introduce them to our career readiness program and encourage them to apply; 85% of those who enroll in our career accelerator go on to graduate college and enter career-track positions.
