My Y story started when I was very young, just learning to swim. I don't remember it all but my mother tells me that I learned to swim (doggy paddle with floats) at around 5 years old at a Y in Shelby, NC. Later I took Karate at the same Y, learning valuable lessons in respect and self-defense. As an adult, I've been a member of the Y in Asheville, NC and then at YMCA Honolulu. I've used the facilities at both Nu'uanu and Central to help keep in shape. All my Y experiences have been great and I love being a part of the YMCA Honolulu board where I can do some good.
