Help Support the Fight Against Cancer as I play (or try to) 100 Holes!

I'm playing 100 holes of golf in June with Golf Fights Cancer!

Dear Friends:

As many of you know, on December 23, 2019, I faced the greatest challenge of my life. That day marked a turning point when I received my diagnosis of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL), casting doubt on my recovery and survival. After a grueling 35-day inpatient stay at MGH, I was discharged to continue my fight through outpatient treatment, which included chemotherapy and other life-saving procedures. Having completed my treatment in the fall of 2020, I gradually returned to the activities I cherished: spending time with family and friends, traveling, coaching, playing soccer, and golfing with friends.

Today, nearly five years later, I celebrate my recovery. I continue to be cancer-free, living each day with gratitude and an understanding that life is fragile and can change in an instant.

Please join me in celebrating this remarkable milestone as I embark on giving back. I'm inspired to once again play 100 holes of golf in Golf Fights Cancer's 2025 Golf Marathon, a unique fundraising event that merges my passion for golf with my desire to pay it forward. This will be my second time participating; the first was in 2017 when Ed Lynch and some friends from North Andover introduced me to the event.

As I participate this time, the event holds a different and more profound significance for me, as I am now a survivor. It may not enhance my game, but it will have a deeper meaning each time I swing that club. I am one of the lucky ones given a second chance at life.  I am grateful and live each day with appreciation and awareness.

On June 5th, I will play with my 1988 BC High classmates Jim Doyle, Bob Doherty, and Mike Nicholson. It's not just a day of golf but of reuniting with old friends, sharing stories, and creating new memories as we come together in the fight against cancer.

We will raise essential funds for cancer-related charities and research organizations. Please help celebrate my recovery and my wish to give back by donating. Your contributions support services, equipment, and amenities that enhance the cancer experience for patients and their families. My goal is $4,000, and any donation will make a difference.
