Hello! My name is Abby Harrod, and I will be running the 2025 NYC Marathon behalf of the Chicago Diabetes Project in honor of my mom, who has Type 1 Diabetes and my grandmother who passed in 2022 due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes.

The Chicago Diabetes Project is at the forefront of Type 1 diabetes research, with recent breakthroughs like the FDA approval of Lantidra propelling us forward. Under the leadership of founder Dr. Jose Oberholzer, we're advancing late-stage critical studies in islet cell transplantation with promising results. The science for a functional cure through cell-based therapy is within reach—our main hurdle now is funding.
