September is a month when I'm always thinking about my mom. She was born in September, married in September and died in September. Just this week she would have turned 81 years old, but, heartbreakingly for me and my family, she died way too young at the age of 64 from ovarian cancer.

My daughter was in kindergarten when she died, and this year she graduated from college.  My nephew was a baby and graduated from high school this year.  It's hard to believe that my mom missed so many special milestones because of this horrible disease.  Wouldn't it be amazing if we could do something to prevent others from losing their beloved mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers and friends to ovarian cancer?

Fittingly, September is also Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and for the 15th (?) year, I will walk to support the Kaleidoscope of Hope Foundation.  Their mission is to support research to develop an early-stage diagnostic test and to improve therapeutic treatments while increasing awareness of the disease.  

I have been so fortunate to have had the support of my amazing friends and colleagues at Lois Schneider Realtor for many years. Together, we have raised over $16,500 for the cause!
