IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SF PARTICIPANTS!

Rain, Schmain!

We got you.

PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE TWICE!

So, you've heard it's gonna rain? We did too and we've got you covered, literally. Here's how to be prepared to TAAFWalk on Sunday (and a special message from our director):

1. SMALL TIME CHANGE--We will be moving our celebration part of TAAFWalk indoors to accommodate for the weather. To do that, we had to push the start of the day back by two hours.  TAAFWalk will now begin at 11:00AM this Sunday, September 18th, and end at 3PM.

2a. TWO VENUES/Venue One--We will still begin the day at East Beach. This is where you will park, check-in, register on site (if not pre-registered), and begin the physical part of the Walk.  TAAFWalk will start at it's usual spot, East Beach Picnic and Parking Area,1199 East Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129.

2b. TWO VENUES/Venue Two--We will end the walk portion of TAAFWalk at the Sports Basement at 610 Old Mason St.  We literally pass this location along our typical walk route; it's close, super fun, and TAAFWalk participants get 10% off anything in the store. And, as opposed to Crissy Field, it's 100% indoors? YAY!  The celebration portion of TAAFWalk will take place in the Dairy Room (pictured above) at Sports Basement (after we walk).

3.  BRUNCH IN THE AFTERNOON--We won't waste yummy food and will, consequently, still brunch upon your return from the walk portion. We're talking fruit, bagels, refreshments, etc. Feel encouraged to bring your favorite picnic food to enjoy along side our brunch, now that we're starting a bit later.  You may also bring personal water bottles if you choose.  Water is being provided (for everyone) by our friends at PATH Water upon your return from the walk portion.

FAQ's to keep you in the know:

What should I wear/bring?

TAAFWalk 2022 is an outdoor, active event that happens rain or shine. First, bring your favorite umbrella or rain jacket.  Even if it doesn't rain, it's better to have it and not need it.  You can always shove it in your backpack after all. Second, we suggest that you wear comfortable/casual attire and shoes, and bring a hat, jacket and sunscreen. Think LAYERS, so you're prepared. San Francisco weather is unpredictable! Some walkers choose to bring a blanket to sit on. As we mentioned above, we’ll provide brunch, water, coffee and dessert, but feel free to bring your own picnic.

Do I need to check in?

Yes. Pre-registered participants should proceed directly to the check in tables at East Beach Picnic and Parking Area, 1199 East Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129. Unregistered participants who will be paying the day of should pick up and sign waivers before getting in line for check-in. All walkers can turn in cash or check donations at the check-in tables.  Fundraising prizes will be distributed by receiving a ticket at check in as well.

If I can't attend, can I still make a donation to a walker or to TAAFWalk 2022?

Absolutely! And thank you for thinking of our teams and of us. Online donations can be made here through the event page with your credit card. Offline donations in cash or check can be sent with a team member to the event itself or checks made out to The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation with "TAAFWalk 2022" in the memo, can be mailed to: TAAFWalk 2022 C/O The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation, 182 Howard St. #715 San Francisco, CA 94105

Is parking available?/Where should I park?

If you can, choose ride-share and skip parking all together! Free parking is available at the East Beach Lot. It's first come, first served; access begins at 11:00AM. Do no park at the Sports Basement. The organization can be fined if TAAFWalk participants park at the Sports Basement.  For garage parking options (max typically $10/day), consider using ParkMe or a similar service. Most sites are a 5-10 min walk to the East Beach picnic area. Using GPS? Use 1199 East Beach, San Francisco, CA 94129.

Give yourself extra time and don't rely solely on GPS.

What time will you really start?

What's the weather like in SF?

Weather is ever-changing in San Francisco, but the forecast says rain with a high of 68 degrees. The forecast inside for our celebration says: SUNNY with certainty of community, awareness and FUN!

Finally, a personal message from our director: While many of you have often joked that I am the (wo)man behind the curtain, neither I nor Oz can control the weather. We've worked very hard to provide a fun, safe space for this family, the TAAF family, and so I hope you will come out and be together. Join me. Join your friends. And let's look forward to making the absolute most of the time we have at TAAFWalk. Afterall, what do I always say: There's no US without U!

With you in gratitude, rain or shine!

Dina
