Food for Thought 2021

Food for Thought is a grassroots fundraising and awareness campaign focusing on food and FTD education. This year's campaign (our ninth!) will take place from September 26 through October 10, 2021.

FTD is the most common form of dementia for people under 60.

Although FTD is a life-altering disease for those affected as well as for their loved ones, it remains little known and poorly understood. That makes effective diagnosis, treatment and a cure a far-off reality for families around the world.

This campaign seeks to change that.

Food for Thought event hosts tell their stories, making people personally aware of FTD, while incorporating food and raising funds to support AFTD’s mission.

Hungry to Make a Difference?

If you're ready to take a bite out of FTD, we have the resources available to make it happen. To create your own fundraising page, and streamline donations at your event, simply click on any of the red "fundraise" buttons on this page.

If you need a little more help, checkout these useful links below:

  • Host Toolkit - a guide, from start to finish, on how to be a successful Food for Thought host.
  • Contact Form - connect with a trained, volunteer Food for Thought Liaison for one-on-one support throughout the campaign.
  • Event Details Form - submit once you've finalized your plans to request educational and awareness materials for your event.

$50 for 50 Challenge:

Thanks to a generous pledge by The Mike Walter Catalyst Fund, you can make your state count in a new “$50 for 50” challenge where $50 will be donated to the campaign total for every state with an event signed up or confirmed participation in Food for Thought (including the #FTDhotshotchallenge!). If all 50 states are signed up, then an additional $2,500 will be donated to the campaign total — a total of $5,000 possible!

Disclaimer

Your health and safety as an AFTD volunteer are important to us! Participation in Food for Thought, or any in-person activity is voluntary. All AFTD volunteers will be required to adhere to specific COVID-19 safety guidelines, as set forth by your local and state jurisdiction, and the CDC. We ask that you proactively monitor local conditions, and consider participation with your own safety and health and that of your family as a priority.
