My name is Katie Walker, and I'm grateful to say that by the grace of God, I am a person in long-term recovery. For me that means I haven’t had a drink or used a drug since 2008. This gift of recovery has afforded me time to build a relationship with God, the people around me, and find passion in life.

I first came to The Center as a volunteer back in 2014, ready to become open about my recovery and start getting involved. The opportunity to volunteer and work for this organization has allowed me to witness many people become hopeful and get the help they need.

I’ve watched many lives transform as a result of recovery, and I’ve lost many people that I care deeply about as a result of overdose or addiction.

I walk to offer myself as living proof that recovery from addiction is real, and I walk to honor the lives of my friends that have passed.

This walk was started in memory of two young men that passed away, and one hundred percent of your donation goes directly to The Center for Prevention & Counseling to provide free services for youth, adults, and families directly affected by addiction, as well as programs in schools and the community to help make kids more resilient and learn to make healthy choices about substance use.
