Five years ago, my life changed in ways I never imagined. Despite being active, athletic, and eating relatively healthy, this terrible disease still found its way to me. Since my diagnosis, everything has shifted. There are many clichés we hear—"Each day is a blessing," "Tomorrow is not guaranteed," "Live life as if it were your last"—but when faced with this kind of battle, they take on a whole new meaning.

I’ve learned that with a diagnosis like this, you have to remain positive and find your "why"—and then FIGHT. The treatments have been overwhelming, physically and emotionally, but God continues to carry me through, along with the love and support of my husband, my children, my family, friends, and the entire breast cancer community. I’m also incredibly thankful for organizations like Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC), whose programs provide so much support, education, and empowerment.
