My name is Patti Poff. I am a resident of Byram Township and the K-4 STEAM teacher at Byram Lakes Elementary School. I recently attended a four-day workshop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire sponsored by Project U.S.E. It brought back memories of my early years in teaching. It inspired me to get involved in this amazing fundraiser to support Project U.S.E. and their mission. The mission of Project Use is to advance equitable access to transformative outdoor experiences. This event will raise critical funds to support Project U.S.E.'s impactful experiential education programs serving youth and communities throughout New Jersey.

I strongly agree and believe in the Project U.S.E. philosophy of “Learning by Doing” and “Challenge by Choice”. 

Phil Costello was the founding Executive Director of Project U.S.E. in 1970. Phil’s credo:

• Remember to be a giver, not a taker.

• Never Underestimate your power as a teacher.

• Leave your mark.

• Anyone can do a good course, STRIVE to do a GREAT course.

• Never be satisfied with your work.

• Remember Always: We all work WITH, not for PROJECT USE.

My team consists of my amazing husband, Greg, our talented son, Vance and our inspiring daughter, Catherine. On May 3rd I will turn 63 years old and intend to hike 16.5 miles from Culvers Lake to High Point State Park while raising money through pledges and sponsorships. All proceeds will directly support Project U.S.E.'s core programs.
